Stolen
Director: Simon West
Starring: Nicolas Cage, Josh Lucas
•• Cage again turns into a one-man action adventure, playing a former bank robber forced to do one more job when his old partner (Lucas) kidnaps his daughter (Sami Gayle). Obviously intended to imitate the 2008 hit Taken (right down to the title), this is certainly better than a lot of Cage's endeavours of late, but it still lacks anything resembling originality. Lucas abandons all subtlety as the crazy-eyed villain, while Danny Huston does his best to remain earnest as the cop on our hero's tail. Despite benefiting from the reliable hand of director West, Stolen fails to generate the same kind of thrills West and Cage delivered in Con Air, instead producing a diverting but predictable action movie.
