Abu Dhabi’s amateur figure skaters are ready for their annual show. The cast of 64 skaters will take to the ice this December with a show about Mansour, a child who dreams of meeting his favourite superheroes watching them defeat the evil villains.
Mansour and the Superheroes stars Zahra Lari, who is attempting to be the first Emirati to enter the Olympics in the sport of figure skating following the UAE's acceptance into the International Skating Union.
Lari and the rest of the cast have been practicing for months for the tale about Mansour and his heroes and the show features 150 tailor made costumes.
“The ice show is an annual tradition that our skaters and the community look forward to,” says Barry Bremner, General Manager of Zayed Sports City, where the show will be taking place. “The theme of superheroes is one that everyone can relate to and it’s perfect for families. The combination of popular music, fantastic skaters, and a little parody for the adults makes for a really entertaining show.”
“We’re the only skating team in the region with a show like this and everyone is very proud to be a part of it,” says Noemi Bedo, the ice skating coach who first introduced the event eight years ago.
