The Samsung Short Film Contest returns to The Beach, JBR, as part of this year’s 12th Dubai International Film Contest on December 11.
The competition debuted during DIFF last year, and opened for entries this year on October 11.
The final on the 11th will once again bring the 10 shortlisted finalists to the beach for a grand screening event where a panel of representatives from DIFF and Samsung, alongside Emirati film maker and competition mentor Nyla Al Khaja, will pick this year’s winner.
The winner will then follow in the footsteps of last year’s winner Philip Rachid and see their film screened at next May’s 69th Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner.
Samsung goodies will also be presented to the competition winner and runners up to help them with their future film making endeavours.
The final will be followed by a free screening of Hany Ubu Assad's critically acclaimed biopic The Idol, including a live performance from its inspiration Mohammed Assaf, the Palestinian singer who went on to win 2013's Arab Idol competition.
