He may be the founder of Facebook, but Mark Zuckerberg does have a Twitter account. Granted, he rarely uses it, but it’s there. He hasn’t sent a tweet since 2012, and in the whole of 2019, Zuckerberg only followed one new person. That person is Cat Valdes, a former influencer who goes by the name of Catrific. The follow was picked up by Big Tech Alert, an account dedicated to tracking the social media accounts of big names in technology. According to her Twitter bio, Vales, from Atlanta, Florida, is a huge Taylor Swift fan, owns a bulldog, and is an advocate for mental health. Her YouTube channel has more than 650,000 subscribers, although her last video, entitled “Life after YouTube”, was posted two months ago. It’s not clear if Zuckerberg knows Vales, but she does follow the 35-year-old billionaire back. According to Big Tech Alert, Zuckerberg followed her on January 6. In total, Zuckerberg follows 788 people, including head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, and a number of technology journalists. According to Big Tech Alert, Zuckerberg also unfollowed one person this year, an account for JF Charland. And Zuckerberg lost a follower himself this week, when chief executive officer of Twitter Jack Dorsey unfollowed him. Again, the move was picked up by Big Tech Alert. The unfollow garnered attention on the platform, as Zuckerberg has not tweeted for seven years, suggesting the move was more about making a statement. Dorsey also made a point of following Big Tech Alert before snubbing Zuckerberg, ensuring the move wouldn't be missed. In a response to Mashable's query about the move, a Twitter spokesperson responded only with a goat emoji. Dorsey has publicly criticised Facebook's approach to political advertising this year, and the unfollow suggests the pair are yet to see eye-to-eye on the matter. _________________ Read more: People of the decade: Mark Zuckerberg Future friend or foe: how our relationship with technology evolved in 2019 'The future is private': Mark Zuckerberg rolls out new features across Facebook Inc _________________
