Kris Fade has called for some introspection over the #saveneil saga.
Social media was buzzing after the Virgin Radio host’s live interview on Monday, February 9, with a distressed Neil, who confirmed that the “anonymous” caller boasting only a few minutes earlier about “two pairs of Louboutins, the Swarovski ones” she received from “my guy” was indeed his partner.
While Neil eventually dumped her – he plans to spend Valentine’s Day with his family – Fade cautioned that there are two people involved in this story.
“That’s why we never mentioned her real name in the radio because we want to protect her, too. What she did may have affected her [relationship] with this guy but we don’t want it to affect her whole life,” he says. “Going forward, maybe she will change and learn from what happened.”
UAE's newest radio darling Neil now has a chance to start anew on a rocking note: Fade has invited him to RedfestDXB this weekend (February 12-13). Perhaps some of the heartbreak anthems of headliner The Script could be what the love doctor ordered (No Good in Goodbye sample lyrics: "Can't take the ache from heartbreak / But as you walk away, you don't hear me say / Where's the good in goodbye?").
Fade describes the whole experience as one of the most memorable of his career.
“It took me completely off guard. I am glad I asked the right questions, I guess,” he says. “While what happened to Neil was horrible, I have been getting a lot of phone calls supporting what we did on the show because it changed his life – hopefully for the better.”
