Abu Dhabi and Queensland sign joint agreement

Abu Dhabi and the state of Queensland in Australia signed a joint co-operation agreement with the aim of reinforcing strategic exchange between the two sides in various fields including agriculture, education and tourism.

The latest agreement, signed in Abu Dhabi by Mr Al Mansouri and Jackie Trad, Member of Parliament for the South Brisbane seat and Queensland Deputy Premier, builds on an initial agreement that was signed between the emirate and the state of Queensland in 2013.

"The government of Abu Dhabi is pleased to renew its strategic partnership and relations with the government of Queensland through this new agreement, particularly following the accelerated growth and development that these relationships have seen over the last years," said Khalifa bin Al Mansouri, the Department of Economic Development's Undersecretary.

“Such agreement reflects the desire to build a sustainable system that supports developmental relationships between the two sides and yields mutual benefits.”

The thrust of the agreement focuses on strengthening joint efforts to advance economic, social and infrastructure development within the general framework of the national development policies of both nations, and the establishment of joint co-operation as per the administrative and procedural national standards and foundations through joint programmes and projects.

The co-operation includes developing and exchanging information in the agriculture, food manufacturing, tourism, transport, transportation, industry, trade, investment, education, services, information management, technology transfer and information technology and communication sectors.

"Due to the developmental and urban development that it witnesses in various fields today, the Emirate of Abu Dhabi has attracted the attention of many countries, and the government of Queensland greatly values the development that the emirate has achieved in different fields in record time," Ms Trad said.
