Dubai-based carriers Emirates and Flydubai on Tuesday said Krakow in Poland and Catania in Sicily would be the next two codeshare destinations in the shared network they are building as part of their tie-up launched last year.
The expanded partnership arrangement, announced in July, is intended to help the airlines cut costs and build market share.
Emirates and its low-cost sister carrier Flydubai are hoping to launch codeshare routes to 240 destinations by 2022, supported by increased alignment of flight schedules, shared fleet usage and alignment of frequent flyer programmes.
Codeshare flights to Krakow will commence on April 8 and to Catania on June 13.

"The partnership initially began with codeshare flights to 29 cities, and this has quickly expanded to meet demand as customers realise the benefits of increased flight frequencies, expanded access to global destinations on a single ticket, the convenience of checking in their baggage through to the final destination, smooth transfers during transit in Dubai, and more," Emirates said.
More than 165,000 passengers have benefitted from the partnership in the two months since the first codeshare flights launched on 29 October, it added.
