Dr Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State and group chief executive of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, and Alexander Novak, Russia's Minister of Energy, met to explore potential opportunities for collaboration, Adnoc said on Wednesday. The company said it was seeking to expand its strategic partnerships and joint-investment opportunities. “Building on the strong bilateral relationship, which exists between the UAE and Russia, there is significant potential for further collaboration on energy issues," Dr Al Jaber said. Mr Novak said that Russia was keen to explore partnership opportunities in upstream and downstream sectors with the UAE. “Co-operation in the field of energy has enormous potential," he said. "Promising areas for collaboration between companies from Russia and the UAE lie in the development of trading activities in hydrocarbons, as well as joint projects in the fields of mining and trading." Russia has the largest natural gas reserves and the eighth largest oil reserves in the world. Mr Novak was given a tour of Adnoc’s Panorama digital command centre. The company is using big data and artificial intelligence technology to help it extract maximum value from its assets and resources. The discussions took place as the World Energy Congress was being held in Abu Dhabi. The two also met in July in Moscow, Adnoc said.
