Sharjah City Centre is undergoing a Dh200 million revamp.
The project will increase the gross leasable area of the shopping centre by 13,500 square metres, while adding shopping, dining and entertainment options.
Once complete, the mall will feature 25 new mid-market stores, three new food and beverage outlets, a Vox Cinemas outlet and a new three-level car park deck. Enhancements will also be made to public areas, with upgrades to the prayer rooms and restrooms.
Work is expected to start next summer.
“Sharjah City Centre’s expansion and refurbishment promotes the emirate’s wider aims to further develop its retail and entertainment landscape, and cater to the increasing needs of its growing population and increasing number of tourists,” said Dimitri Vazelakis, the executive managing director for shopping malls at Majid Al Futtaim Properties.
“Following the recent successful upgrade to Sharjah City Centre’s dining area, this additional Dh200m investment will further diversify the malls’ shopping options and leisure pursuits, offering a refreshed shopper experience.”
Retailers in the emirate are set to benefit from soaring housing costs next door in Dubai, with many choosing to live in Sharjah where prices are lower.
Majid Al Futtaim also has a network of community malls in the emirate that have attracted more than 10 million visitors since opening a year ago.
