President Sheikh Mohamed and Malaysian king oversee joint military exercise



UAE President Sheikh Mohamed and King of Malaysia Sultan Abdullah Ahmad Shah watched the conclusion of the Desert Tiger 6 military exercise held by the land forces of the two countries.

The joint exercise, which came to a close on Monday, sought to expand the scope of co-operation in enhancing military capabilities, as well as improve performance, combat efficiency and teamwork, news agency Wam reported.

Maj Gen Saeed Al Shehhi, commander of the UAE Land Forces, expressed his pride at the distinguished relations with the Malaysian Armed Forces.

Lt Gen Mohamed bin Abdulrahman, deputy commander of the Malaysian Land Forces, spoke of the importance of the military exercise and mutual understanding.

The military exercise was also witnessed by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court; Malaysia's Crown Prince Tengku Alam Shah, the Regent of Pahang; Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed, Abu Dhabi Ruler’s Representative in Al Ain Region, and Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed, chairman of the board of trustees of the Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation.

Others in attendance included Mohammed Al Bowardi, Minister of State for Defence Affairs; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad, adviser for Special Affairs at the Ministry of Presidential Court; Lt Gen Issa Al Mazrouei, chief of staff of the Armed Forces, and a number of senior officials from both countries.

On Tuesday, Sheikh Mohamed received the King of Malaysia at the Qasr Al Bahr Majlis in Abu Dhabi.

During the friendly discussion, the leaders discussed bilateral ties and the prospects of furthering collaboration between the two nations.
