In a career spanning from 1978 to 2019, Peter Lindbergh shot some of the world's most famous models, for many of the world's biggest magazines titles. Click through the gallery above to see some of Lindbergh's most celebrated images. He shot model turned-actress Amber Valletta in 1993, at the start of her career. Wearing feathered wings and a bathrobe, it is one of the most celebrated images of the model. Preferring stripped back imagery, he often had his models wear men's suits or plain white shirts. With no elaborate dresses to hide behind, his photographs became about the subjects. For this image, he shot models Estelle Lefebure, Karen Alexander, Rachel Williams, Linda Evangelista, Tatjana Patitz and Christy Turlington, in Santa Monica, 1988, and is credited for launching the careers of many of the original supermodels. For the cover of British Vogue, March 1990, Lindbergh shot Helena Christensen with a white horse on a beach, wearing a simple white dress. Lindbergh recently photographed the 15 cover stars for the Duchess of Sussex co-edited September issue of British Vogue, including climate change campaigner Greta Thunberg, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, and author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
