A round of applause: 50 photos that chart Lady Gaga's style journey from pop star to screen queen

She may have taken on the title role in the 2018 remake of A Star is Born, but Lady Gaga's own star was set in motion more than 10 years ago.

The singer-songwriter burst on to the scene in 2009, gaining as much recognition for her flamboyant stage outfits as her chart-toppers.

With a fondness for outlandish silhouettes and experimental fabrics, the American musician – born Stefani Germanotta – made any red carpet she stepped foot on a style spectacle. A dress made entirely out of meat, anyone?

But, over the years, the actress and entrepreneur has also embraced an Old Hollywood sensibility, switching effortlessly between emerging, niche or avant-garde designers and established maisons, such as Valentino and Givenchy.

Gaga is not afraid to take a fashion risk, nor is she keen to rest on her style laurels, changing up her beauty look and wardrobe trends as often as the rest of us have hot dinners.

Here, we take a look back through her style files to see how the Bad Romance star's style has evolved in the past decade.
