Storied French fashion house Chloe has just unveiled its new flagship store in The Dubai Mall’s Fashion Avenue extension and, as part of the celebration, it has released three dedicated UAE-exclusive pieces. Known for its oh-so-Parisian insouciance, Chloe shuns trends and is aimed squarely at women who are unafraid to walk their own path. And unlike many exclusives created by European brands for this region (that too often feel like an afterthought), this trio from Chloe has clearly been designed to neatly encapsulate the house codes of strict tailoring and bohemian femininity, mixed with a boyish air. As creative director Natacha Ramsay-Levi explained to British Vogue, ahead of the label's autumn / winter 2020 show: "Chloe doesn't stand for any one thing. It's an open identity, something for the woman who wears it to define." Devotees of Chloe will recognise the Tess bag that debuted on the runway in 2018 among the pieces, now softened with homely embroidery in earthy tones on a pale cream ground. With the new motifs surrounding the distinctive gold hooped hardware, it feels more dressed up than other Tess styles, while retaining an easy attitude. The second piece, meanwhile, is a delicate glasses (or face mask) chain, fashioned from brass, Swarovski crystals and natural freshwater pearls, in a nod to the pearling history of the nation. Finally, there is the Lauren sneaker, now reimagined into a new, patriotic colour scheme of white, red, black and green. Pleasingly androgynous, the Lauren still retains the black Chloe pull tab on the heel, now surrounded by red. Made from white calfskin, goatskin and sheepskin, this style will make even the dressiest look city ready.
