Lebanese fashion house Elie Saab is adding to its growing portfolio with a new line of luxury watches. Launched on Thursday, the new range of 28 ladies' timepieces are Swiss-made, come with stainless steel casings and are scattered with diamonds. Called Eayan (meaning 'see' in Arabic), the design is based on the evil eye, a recurring motif in Middle Eastern culture. The evil eye symbol has been used for centuries as a way to ward off negativity and evil, and famous people such as Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and Gigi Hadid have also sported jewellery featuring the motif. Measuring 23 millimetres by 40 millimetres, the elliptical Eayan watches are made of stainless steel, known for its hard-wearing properties, and either used as is or plated in gold. Each is completed with studded "eyelashes" on one side of the case. One watch comes with a double-shaded green dial, surrounded by 86 VS1 white diamonds on the face and bezel, with a steel and gold-plated bracelet. Another comes with a deep blue dial that sits in perfect contrast to the steel bracelet, and also comes with 86 white VS1 diamonds around the dial and bezel. A third is crafted in tones of burnished copper, with a black and burgundy face sitting next to a bracelet coated in pink gold. This, too, comes with the same quality and quantity of white diamonds. This new range of watches is a welcome addition to the Saab stable. To date, the eponymous label already offers ready-to-wear, haute couture, perfume and, most recently, furniture. It has also designed a series of apartments with property company Emaar, situated on the Palm Jumeirah in Dubai. _________________ Read more: From Elizabeth Taylor's Ping Pong diamonds to Napoleon's locket: famous jewels gifted in love through the ages Luxury: February How jewellery label Azza Fahmy is preserving the many crafts of Egypt: 'We are storytellers' _________________
