The son of Elie Saab, Elie Saab Jr, married Christina Mourad in an extravagant three-day wedding ceremony in various locations around Beirut over the weekend. And now, a Lebanese tourism chief has applauded the fashion designer for choosing to host his son's wedding in their home country. The Syndicate of Owners of Restaurants, Cafes, Night-Clubs and Pastries in Lebanon thanked Saab “for holding the wedding party of his son, Elie Jr, and the Lebanese bride, Christina Mourad, in Lebanon instead of abroad, as do [many] of Lebanese leaders and lords." The wedding was held in a number of locations, predominantly in the mountains on the outskirts of Beirut, including eco-village Le Plateau de Bakish, the the exclusive Faqra Club and the ceremony was held in the church of Bkerki, which is around 40 minutes from Beirut. "Holding wedding parties abroad has deprived the tourism sector as well as other sectors in Lebanon of important revenues that can revive the national economy," the non-profit organisation said. But they applauded the Saabs for hosting "3,000 guests from inside and outside Lebanon" to the wedding. "People shared their joy on social media, communicating Lebanon’s image of civilization and tourism to the world," the syndicate added. "This wedding filled Lebanese hotels, restaurants and nightclubs and stirred the economic cycle for more than 10 days before and after the wedding. We salute the man who loves peace and Lebanon a thousand times."
