Unfortunately, we couldn't make it to the opening, but stopping by the new Italian restaurant APi CAE Gourmet tops our to-do list, considering all the great things we've been hearing about it. The Italian Ambassador to the UAE, Giorgio Starace, really seems to enjoy the grissinis (Italian breadsticks). Sunday evening saw the opening of the restaurant, where the ambassador was in attendance together with Sheikh Nahyan al Nahyan. From the press release circulated following the opening party, Mr Starace said: "When it comes to Italian food I like to think I know what it should taste like and APi CAE is the real thing. I am an Italian man and I know great pizza when I eat it! I will certainly be a regular here from now on." Suffice to say, we're dying to try out that infamous pizza! Api Cae is best described as an Italian Bakery/Cafe with a daily changing menu that serves salads, anti pasti - both cold and hot - as well as a selection of pastas and pizzas. There's a lot of fresh baked goods there and amazing desserts as well. Also from the press release: The 5000 square foot restaurant is located in the heart of down town Abu Dhabi and is open from 8am to 10pm every day apart from Thursdays. The restaurant is close to the Corniche and behind the National Bank of Abu Dhabi. APi CAE specialises in healthy homemade Italian breads, pastas and pizzas created from the finest organic ingredients sourced both locally and internationally. * APi CAE GOURMET is located on the ground floor of Block A, Khalidiya Tower, Khalidiya Area, on Abu Dhabi Corniche.
