If you fancy your cooking skills, this could be the job for you. Queen Elizabeth II is looking for a new sous chef at Buckingham Palace. The full time role will see the sharp chef work at the royal household, and also take their skills on the road, as travelling is a part of the role. "Joining an accomplished team, you’ll work hands-on with your colleagues to deliver food to the highest standards," the job description reads. "You'll plan and develop menu items for a wide range of events, as well as helping to manage stock levels." "Alongside the Head Chef you’ll lead and motivate the Kitchen team, playing an integral part in the day-to-day running of our operations, it adds. "In an environment where development and training is commonplace, you'll be supported to grow within your role, developing both your managerial and technical cookery skills. "And whether you’re based in Buckingham Palace or travelling to other locations, you'll look forward to whatever challenge comes your way." The website makes it clear that the job will be five days a week, and based in London, England, with the option of live-in accommodation with meals provided. The royal family is looking for someone who is trained in classical French cuisine, saying, "you'll be confident planning and developing menus for a wide range of occasions, including volume catering." "Above all," the job description adds, "you'll be committed to achieving high standards every day, making you a real asset to the kitchen team." It seems that working for The Firm comes with benefits. The job comes with 33 days of holiday and a 15 per cent employer contribution pension scheme, as well as training and development in the role, and access to a range of recreational facilities. For any keen applicants, the job's closing date is Wednesday, February 12. The starting salary has not been listed on the job page, but has been reported to be £33,000 (Dh158,000) per year. Other jobs that the British royal family are hiring for include a Buckingham Palace gardener, retail and admissions assistant at the Palace of Holyroodhouse and a head of learning at St James’s Palace. Much has been written about the culinary preferences of Queen Elizabeth II. According to Reader's Digest, her breakfast of choice is Special K cereal (so the first meal of the day will be a breeze for the new sous chef), although she does have a taste for scrambled eggs which she likes Dubai-style, with truffle, on special occasions. Darren McGrady, a chef for the royal family from 1982 to 1993, told the <em>Telegraph </em>in 2015:<em> </em>"She was too frugal to ever order fresh truffles ... She only really enjoyed them at Christmas when the truffles were sent as a gift." A second chef, Owen Hodgson who worked for the royal family in the 1990s, added: “When we cooked the Queen’s mushrooms we always added a smidgen of Marmite.” McGrady, who was a personal chef to the queen at one stage, revealed that the royal is no gastro-buff. “Sadly, the Queen is not a foodie,” he said in the same interview. “She eats to live, unlike Prince Philip who loves to eat and would stand and talk food all day.”
