The UAE is known for its hospitality, but Dubai Mall’s newest restaurant takes things to another level thanks to its all-singing, all-dancing front-of-house host. Diners at Asian restaurant Tanuki are greeted by a state-of-the-art robot when they visit the Dubai Mall branch, which is joining the growing list of restaurants in the city incorporating technology into their service. The robot will offer children food vouchers before they are seated, as well as interact with them and entertain them with a song and a dance. This is not the first restaurant in Dubai to have a robot on its staff. Ruby the robotic waitress arrived at Drink and Spice Magics, a Bur Dubai restaurant, last summer, and has been wowing customers by rushing out their orders with minimum fuss. Tanuki, which is on the ground floor of the mall, specialises in Japanese and Chinese cuisine and takes inspiration from the culture found across Asia. Signature dishes include the Tanuki tom yum soup; Tanuki shinsei maki with crab, salmon and tobiko; warmed maki rolls such as the Tanuki kogase, with lightly seared salmon, eel and cream cheese; California hot maki; and Philadelphia unagi maki. Guests can also enjoy the outdoor terrace, which offers spectacular views of the Burj Khalifa and fountains show. Alexander Orlov, concept creator and co-founder of Bulldozer Group, which has brought the restaurant to Dubai, says: “The Tanuki menu is endowed with many philosophies, sayings, etiquettes, and beliefs, where a well-balanced diet of meat, rice, seafood, fruits, vegetables and spices are essential to make a person fully appreciate the taste of food and life.” _______________ Read more: Abu Dhabi health department issues region's first AI controls The machines are taking over: how AI will change life in the UAE over the next 50 years Governments must control the rise of artificial intelligence, experts say ________________
