American singer and actress Selena Gomez will be whipping up adobo with celebrity Filipino-American chef Jordan Andino in season two of her HBO Max show Selena + Chef. Andino, who owns Filipino taqueria Flip Sigi in New York, shows Gomez how to make the Philippines staple, which can involve meat, seafood or vegetables marinated in vinegar and soy sauce. In a trailer for the season, Gomez shows off her plate of saucy adobo with rice to Andino's Filipina grandmother via video chat. "How do you think it looks?" Gomez asks. "It's OK," comes the reply, which is met with laughter from Gomez and her guests. The Come & Get It singer started the unscripted cooking series while in lockdown last August. Each episode features the star learning a new cuisine under the tutelage of a professional chef. They offer tips and tricks on how to deal with kitchen disasters, and each episode also highlights a different food-related charity. “As you all know by now, I’m not the best cook,” Gomez says in the voice-over for the new trailer. “But I’m not going to stop trying to get better. So I’m back in my kitchen to get schooled by the best chefs.” The first season consisted of 10 episodes, starring the likes of Ludo Lefebvre, Antonia Lofaso and Roy Choi. Gomez learnt to make dishes such as spicy miso ramen, buttermilk fried chicken and seafood tostada. Chefs confirmed for this new season include Aarti Sequeira, Curtis Stone, Evan Funke, Graham Elliot, JJ Johnson, Jose Andres, Kelis Rogers, Marcela Valladolid and Marcus Samuelsson. The new episodes, which are between 22 and 33 minutes long, will stream on HBO Max from Thursday, January 21
