Are you ready to stock up on tech bargains? Gitex Shopper has returned for another year of deals on electronics, gadgets and more. The five-day trade show will be held at Dubai World Trade Centre in Za’abeel Halls 4-6 from October 2 until October 6. For those keen on attending, here’s what you need to know about this year’s event: Timings: The consumer show runs from October 2 to 6, with doors opening from 11am until 11pm. Price: This year's show features a reduced entry ticket price at Dh20. Students get in for Dh10 while children under five can attend for free. How to get there: The cheapest way would be to take the red line towards World Trade Centre Station on the Dubai Metro (but be ready for it to be very busy). Trains run roughly every seven minutes, often more frequently during rush hour. Taxis are also another option. There will be two taxi drop-off areas: opposite Ibis Hotel and in front of the Za'abeel Halls entrance. Where to park: If you spend a minimum of Dh300, you can receive a parking coupon for free parking by presenting your invoice at the parking counters located at the three exits in the Za'abeel Halls. While the event is mostly known for being a shopper’s paradise with some crazy deals (we’ll bring you the best of those later), it can also be a bit overwhelming at times. So, for those who might need a break, here’s a look at five other activities to do at the Gitex Shopper that don’t actually include shopping... There will be a five-day video game tournament, and the games in the tournament include Fortnite, Fifa, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Overwatch. Those interested can register every day from 3pm-7pm on-site, with prizes offered to the day's winners. In between games, those who need a break can play Mario Kart or get their groove on with Just Dance 2018. Head to the Shopper Drone Zone in the new Xperience Zone and get first-hand training on how to operate a drone, testing out your own piloting skills in a safe area on the show floor. Hey, if you really enjoy it, you will definitely be able to walk out of Gitex Shopper with your very own drone — there will be lots on sale. Have an old mobile phone or laptop that’s no longer of any use? Declutter by getting rid of old electronics and making room for something newer instead. Head to the designated trade-in area to drop off old laptops, cameras, gaming consoles and accessories, and in return you’ll get Gitex Shopping vouchers to spend on something new. Photographers who are keen to improve on their skills can partake in the Nikon Photography School. From 1pm until 10pm each day there will be free lessons ranging from 30 to 90 minutes, with classes in “capturing family getaways”, “DSLR Videography 101”, fashion or astro photography, as well as understanding how to use long exposure. Unsure how to use one of your new gadgets? Head over to the Xperience Zone where a group of experts from Tech Radar will be on hand to assist. They will give guidance on the best products to purchase, as well as offer a series of Tricks and Tips sessions which will help you get the most out of your next electronic purchase. There’s also an opportunity to check-in for a one-on-one session to learn more about the latest laptops, tablets or smartphones in the market. For the latest Gitex Shopper, visit www.Gitexshopperdubai.com _______________________
Read more from Gitex 2017: Dubai Police unveils flying 'Hoversurf' at Gitex Watch: Dubai Police's flying bike unveiled in dramatic video WATCH: Walking through Dubai airport's virtual aquarium security tunnel _______________________
