DSF and DSS aside, another abbreviation is set to be added to Dubai's annual shopping festival rota: DHF, or Dubai Home Festival, which launches on April 18. This one is meant specifically for interiors lovers, or those who want to do up their homes and offices without breaking the bank. The sale, which runs from April 18 to May 1, offers discounts of between 25 per cent and 75 per cent from more than 20 homeware brands, which cater to every taste and budget. For something cheap and cheerful, look to Ikea, Homes R Us, and the furniture "departments" at Carrefour and Union Co-op. On the end of the spectrum lie Bloomingdale's Home, Italian brand Natuzzi, Villeroy & Boch, Interiors, The One, Mood and Marina Home. Mid-range shoppers can browse through Home Centre, Crate & Barrel, Jysk, Nest Home and Royal Furniture. The sale also includes a handful of product-specific brands, such as Dyson (for high-tech electronics) and Crystal Gallery (for glassware), as well as multi-brand stores, such as Robinsons, Cottage Chic and Aati. DHF also entails a Friday Surprise sale, to be held at a specific outlet each week, details of which will be made available on the website 24 hours before. The grand prize is a fully furnished studio apartment in Starz by Danube, a development in Jebel Ali Village close to Discovery Gardens. Before they move in, shoppers need to spend Dh500 in any of the participating stores to enter a raffle draw. One shopper can also drive home in an MG6, after spending Dh250 in any in-mall homeware store in Ibn Battuta. Customers who spend Dh20,000 at Interiors can enter a raffle that includes the chance to win a complimentary bedroom makeover. At The Dubai Mall, meanwhile, all shoppers who spend more than Dh100 until April 30 will earn double Skywards Miles, and those who spend more than Dh25,000 in one go will be eligible for an overnight stay for two at an Address Hotel. Show your support for the students from Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation by attending the Young Designer's Exhibition at Mall of the Emirates during DHF; you might end up coming home with a creative piece of work. Furniture enthusiasts can also sign up for masterclasses at Crate & Barrel, on April 19 at MOE and April 20 at City Centre Mirdif. These free-to-attend sessions offer tips on how to use lights, colours and accessories to make your space look and feel more attractive. If learning swanky new tricks to set up a dinner table is on your agenda, head to Robinsons at Dubai Festival City on April 24, for its tabletop workshop.
