Gigi Hadid offers intimate glimpse at her eclectic New York home: from dyed pasta art to Hamsa amulets

She may be keeping tight-lipped on when her baby with Zayn Malik is due, but we can now see where Gigi Hadid and the singer will raise their first child. The supermodel, who has Palestinian and Dutch heritage, has shared a look inside her New York City home after redecorating the spacious property. Hadid, 25, shared a series of images with her 55 million Instagram followers, showing off her eclectic taste for interiors in the process. "Spent all of last year designing and curating my passion project / dream spot," the model captioned the photographs. "Of course it all came together right before quarantining out of the city ... but I’m excited for the time I’ll get to spend enjoying all the special corners that were made with a lil help from some of my favourite creatives who embraced my ideas and didn’t call me crazy." According to the New York Post , Hadid's home is located in NoHo, a trendy Manhattan neighbourhood. Hadid offered a look at a number of the property's rooms, including the living space, in the post. The living room features an L-shaped sofa, crafted with contrasting, vibrantly hued cushions, scattered with textiles by Jean Paul Gaultier and Missoni. On the coffee table, a large Hamsa amulet is placed alongside piles of magazines. The design, also known as the Hand of Fatima, is said to protect and bring happiness, health, luck and good fortune. It is widely used in North Africa and the Middle East, and its origins are thought to stem from Ancient Egypt. Custom pieces by Los Angeles artist Austyn Weiner grace the living room and hallway walls, while a pair of vintage skis can be spotted propped up next to the television. One of the home's most distinctive features can be found in the kitchen, where piles of colourful dried pasta line glass cupboard doors on a large island. A wooden bowl stacked with billiard balls can also be spotted, as well as stainless steel appliances, Williams Sonoma cookware and a marble splashback. Marble is also echoed in the elegant bathroom, which features a walk-in shower and freestanding tub, while lively prints decorate fabrics and artwork scattered throughout Hadid's home. The wall of a downstairs bathroom is lined with New Yorker covers, while an artwork by Eamon Harrington, located outside the bathroom, bears an inclusive message. "Welcome," the painting states, "all ages, all colours, all sizes, all cultures, all genders, all beliefs, all religions, all types, all people, safe here." The project scored praise from Hadid's followers, including stylist and Queer Eye star Tan France, who commented: "OMG it turned out so great, Gi! It's beautiful." The model's father, Mohamed Hadid, meanwhile called the property "a real living space". "The warmest colours. The perfect comfort zone. The perfect eye pleaser. The perfect design ... for the eye the soul and body," wrote the Palestinian-Jordanian real-estate developer. Hadid, who has spent the past few months on her family farm in Pennsylvania, is reportedly expecting her first child with Malik, 27, in the autumn. During an Instagram Live video earlier this month, the model told fans she wasn't posting about her pregnancy as it’s "not the most important thing going on in the world". "That's a reason that I felt that it's not really something that I need to share apart from with my family and friends. Obviously a lot of people have lost lives due to [the] coronavirus that was in the beginning of quarantine and still happening," she said. "And then we moved obviously into the reemergence of the Black Lives Matter movement, and I thought that our presence on social media should be used for that." Hadid and Malik have been in an on/off relationship since 2015. They broke up for a period in 2018, but it was confirmed they were back together in December 2019.
