Coasters with the mostest

Protecting our wooden coffee table has got to be our obsession of the moment, as are Egyptian films from the 1950s and 1960s. These coasters and box combine the two elements into one beautiful home accessory. The box depicts the poster for the 1955 film Ahlam Al-Rabia starring Kamal El Shennawi as the leading man, along with Madiha Yusri (left) and Zahrat El-Ola (right). It's very practical as we can store the coasters in the box when we're not using them, so our table stays clear of any mess.

Coffee with a kick

Let's face it, we don't like the sound of our alarm clock buzzing in the wee hours. We don't like sunrises, morning runs or refreshing yoga after a bowl of muesli. However, two things we do love are David Bowie (who could forget him as Jareth the Goblin King in the film Labyrinth), and coffee, especially when our bold Italian roast is served in this brilliant mug by Takkoda. Tea with Tiffany's

The Pavilion Downtown Dubai has teamed up with the Dubai Confidential Film Club for a screening of Breakfast at Tiffany's today at 2.00 pm. If you're as much a fan of the 1960s classic as we are then you'll be thrilled to hear that the film will be followed by a vintage English afternoon tea party. Be sure to go decked out in your best vintage attire as the theme expands to the whole feel of the afternoon. We're thinking of pairing our floral midi with sparkly Mary Janes to channel our inner Stepford.

Poisoned apple

Our all-time favourite crime series by Agatha Christie was the inspiration behind this poisoned apple ring from Stephen Webster. Part of his Murder, She Wrote collection, it is made of gold, diamonds and rubies. A great way to give a gothic edge to any outfit.

We love this time of year in the region - better weather, plenty of holidays and loads of massive events, so we do our best to attend all of the region's film festivals. This year we can still look forward to the Doha Tribeca Film Festival from October 25-29 and the eighth Dubai International Film Festival from December 7-14. Both will feature many contemporary world cinema regional premieres.
