Get your heels out – luxury party spot Mantis, which was due to open last November, will finally throw open its gilded doors on Friday, March 15. Located at the podium level in Emirates Financial Towers in DIFC, Mantis promises the usual trappings of international artists and DJs, state-of-the-art lights projecting rainbow colours over its dance floor, and a bar that dominates a large section of the 8,500-square-foot space. Unlike most of its ilk, though, this nightclub also wants guests to take a shine to its food menu and artistic interiors. It also includes a “chill-out” room and serves fresh-from-Bali Kopi Luwak, one of the most expensive coffee beans in the world. The menu is still dominated by mostly finger food, but of the more luxury kind. Think hand-crafted sashimi and sushi rolls, summer rolls and smoked duck wraps, freshly shucked oysters and foie gras, tart ceviche and crab salad. These range in price from Dh32 to Dh140, with sharing platters available for between Dh400 and Dh600. The club, which can accommodate 350 people, also offers personalised table service, has 37 tables, and a dedicated team of servers and sommeliers on hand. Tables start from Dh1,500. Milan-born, Manhattan-based artist Tomaso Albertini, who has worked with Sotheby’s New York, designed the life-size mantis that greets visitors at the door. French design team L’Exception, meanwhile, kept the “haut monde” (fashionable society) of Dubai in mind, while putting together the decor, which includes a corridor mirrored from floor to roof, and the Immersive room – a chill-out spot in the centre of the club, which will serve steaming cups of Kopi Luwak for Dh150 a shot. Mantis boasts sound systems from Germany’s D&B Audiotechnik, hi-tech LED screens from Shenzhen’s VOD Visual, and lighting systems from MA Lighting, Clay Paky and Lumibright. Danny Planter, owner of D&T Group, the parent company of Mantis, says: "Our aim is to … match offerings that can only be found in the clubbing hotspots around the world, such as Las Vegas, Ibiza and Los Angeles. We’re confident that we’ve created a one-of-a-kind concept in the region, which will continue to deliver on entertainment, innovation and experience." To know more or make a reservation, call 800 MANTIS
