The Dubai International Motor Show is making its return in a week, and this year it'll be featuring a selection of performance products in the automotive sphere worth Dh1 billion. The tagline for the 2019 event is Future Mobility, so there is also a focus on public transportation, not least the Hyperloop technology set to be a feature of the UAE landscape with the proposed link between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from Tuesday, November 12 until Saturday, November 16, the motor show will feature some of the biggest manufacturers showcasing their latest models and technology. Organisers say this will be the most advanced and experience-orientated event in its 30-year history. Stunt riders and drifting professionals will be putting on traditional, crowd-pleasing displays. Visitors will also get the chance to take a virtual, inner-city drone flight above the streets of Dubai, courtesy of ItalDesign, as a showcase of what getting about could be like in the near future. A 3D modelling studio will also demonstrate how a team of creatives can sculpt a new vehicle from start to finish in a digital environment, making the concept of designers and engineers poring over drawing boards seem like something from the Dark Ages. When it comes to the cars, though, the world’s fastest electric car will be making its debut – the Aspark OWL, which will do zero to 100 kilometres per hour in less than two seconds – and UAE-based marque Ajlani Motors is pulling the covers off its highly anticipated new hypercar. Manufacturers including Gargash, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Ferrari, Maserati, Lincoln, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Jaguar Land Rover, Nissan, and Mitsubishi will also be showcasing their latest models and technology. It’s not just about the new though, as the event will feature what’s being called the Elite Club. This is a display of privately owned hypercars valued at around Dh500 million, including a Bugatti Veyron, a Lamborghini Veneno and a Gumpart Apollo S. The show will also feature the Arabian Gazelles – the region’s first women-only supercar club – who showcase their cars at street meets. Entrance to the event is Dh30 for adults, Dh20 for those from 12-18, with under 12s getting a free pass.
