Jaguar's XE 2020 model has had its first major upgrade since its 2014 launch. Designers have given the shell of what's been described as the marque's most affordable model a more aggressive air, apparently inspired by another Jaguar vehicle: the F-Type. The XE is now wider and lower, with Jaguar embracing what it calls "muscular forms alluding to the car's performance and advanced aerodynamics". The changes on the outside aren't extensive, but they'll make the 2020 model stand out from its previous incarnation. The upgrade has new LED lights with a "J" night-time signature, a redesigned rear bumper and, if customers opt for the jazzed-up R-Dynamic stylings, dark mesh detailing and new wheels. It gets a bit more Star Trek-worthy on the inside, though, with the F-Type's SportShift gear selector and the JaguarDrive control switch. The interior has soft-touch materials, veneers and door trims, and a new steering wheel. The new XE also claims to be the smartest and most connected yet, with Jaguar's Touch Pro Duo infotainment system available for the first time, as well as wireless device charging. Its entry-level specs feature an automatic transmission, electric leather seats, LED lights, a parking aid, rear camera and lane-keep assist. Engine options remain the same, with the 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol and diesel engines offering power ranging between 247bhp and 296bhp, while the 2.0-litre diesel offers 178bhp. The standard model will do 0-100kph in 5.7 seconds, but the R-Dynamic variant comes with all-wheel drive and can do it in 5.4 seconds. All models will be available as of June 2019. Prices in the UAE will range from Dh197,295 for the base model, up to 254,520 for the R-Dynamic HSE. Can you handle it?
