Rolls-Royce has launched its Wraith Eagle VIII collection. The unveiling of the new fleet took place at this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, an annual bunfight for classic cars that’s been taking place on the shores of Italy’s Lake Como since 1929. However, you won’t see too many of these Wraiths on roads in the UAE (or anywhere else, for that matter) as the car has a limited production run of 50 units. If you do spot one though, you’ll recognise it from a distance as the fleet has been styled to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first non-stop transatlantic flight in 1919. The connection between the pioneering journey and the British car marque comes as the Vickers Vimy biplane, flown by John Alcock and Arthur Brown, was powered by a pair of Rolls-Royce Eagle engines. Apparently, these mighty powerhouses were one of the few parts of the aircraft that managed not to fall apart during the journey (unlike the radio, intercom and heating), which was a bonus for the crew as the Atlantic is chilly at the best of times. <strong>Scroll through the gallery above for a closer look at the Wraith Eagle VIII.</strong>
