The new Volkswagen Passat has just touched down in the Middle East, the first region to see its arrival. It's not a complete reboot for the sedan, but the manufacturer is hailing a bolder design and upgraded technology in the latest model. It certainly has a new look, with what VW calls a "coupe-like" roofline and a more dominant front grille. There is also a new instrument panel inside and a glass-covered infotainment system with a touchscreen. And now, in line with many VWs, the Passat comes in three levels of trim – Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. Under the bonnet is where the latest model shows its age, though – unchanged is the 2.5-litre engine, which will get you up to 190 kilometres per hour with your foot hard to the floor. The Passat has been an important vehicle for Volkswagen in the region as it accounts for nearly 20 per cent of the company's sales. This new version will start from Dh95,407 excluding VAT. Scroll through the gallery above to see more of the new Volkswagen Passat.
