Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid's affiliation with members of the animal kingdom has long been documented, and it appears his love of all creatures great and small has been passed down throughout his family lines. The Vice President and Ruler of Dubai's granddaughter, Sheikha Sheema bint Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, became the star of a viral video over the weekend, after rescuing a rare turtle, and then returning it to the waves in Bahrain. The eight-year-old found the endangered creature – believed to be a loggerhead turtle – in a "disastrous situation", her mother, Sheikha Shaikha bin Mohammed bin Rashid revealed in a clip posted to Instagram. In the short video, Sheema is seen helping release the sea animal, which was reportedly 80 years old, back into the wild. "The animal welfare org named her 'Sheema' after my daughter, which really meant a lot to us," added Sheikha Shaikha. "I wish we see her come back again to lay its eggs on the shore with a healthy condition (sic)." Sheema later paid tribute to her father, Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, for teaching her the importance of caring for wildlife. "My father constantly motivated us to care for the environment," she told Bahrain's Daily Tribune. "This was translated into my care for this turtle, which is considered as one of the endangered species in the world." The clip has since been viewed more than 32,000 times since it was uploaded on Friday, with many Instagram users praising Sheema's compassion. Her actions come two years after her grandfather, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, was seen guiding a giant turtle back into the Arabian Gulf. ________________ Read more: Queen Rania: ‘No goal is more important than empowering teachers’ Back in the saddle: Princess Haya reveals joy at show-jumping again in new clip Raja Al Gurg: in life and business UAE women can have it all ________________
