Spanish footballer Sergio Ramos has spent the last week holidaying in the Egyptian resort town of Hurghada and it seems the Real Madrid star has a newfound love for the country. The defender, his wife Pilar Rubio and their three children were on holiday to celebrate the couple’s honeymoon. The pair were married in June. It was the footballer’s first visit to Egypt, and he arrived to a seriously warm welcome at the five-star Dana Beach Resort. As well as rolling out the red carpet for his arrival, staff hung a giant poster of the footballer outside the hotel. They also erected an oversized photograph of the Ramos family, surrounded by a loveheart created out of blue and white balloons. But it seems the excessive display of appreciation was reciprocated by Ramos who captioned a final holiday snap on Instagram with: “One of the best trips ever, now I know why everyone speaks so highly of Egypt and its people. Egypt you will always have a piece of my heart.” Known for it’s family friendly vibes, the Dana Beach Resort is located in a picturesque area called Half Moon Bay. As well as multiple swimming pools and lagoons, there are plenty of water sports and onsite activities like jet skiing, cycling and banana boats, as well as Nemo Kids Club which may have helped keep the Ramos' boys entertained. Rooms at the resort start from Dh874 per night, on an all-inclusive basis. During their time in Egypt, the family relaxed on the shores of Dana Beach Resort and swam in the Red Sea. They also visited Jungle Aqua Park, Hurghada's most-visited water park. A post on Instagram showed the couple having fun on one of the park's slides with their two older sons, Sergio Junior and Marco. The adults also also braved one of the bigger rides without the kids and in a post on Pilar's Instagram, Sergio can be heard screaming ‘Oh my goodness’ as the pair plunge down the water slide. The warm welcome that Ramos received in Egypt was a wild contradiction to the flurry of hatred that many football fans expressed towards the Spaniard last year. The backlash came after the Real Madrid captain was involved in a controversial tackle on Liverpool star and Egyptian national Mo Salah, which left the forward out of action for Egypt's opening game in the Russia World Cup.
