Terrifying footage has been captured of a British Airways plane rolling from side to side in the sky on approach to Gibraltar. Flight BA492 took off from London Heathrow at 8.25am on Monday, but was forced to land at Malaga in southern Spain after attempts to land in Gibraltar were aborted when high winds caused the aircraft to sway. In the footage captured from the ground, it appears the plane, an Airbus A320, is close to rolling right over, although British Airways later said that all passengers were unharmed. A British Airways spokesman said: "The flight has landed safely and passengers have left the aircraft normally. "Due to strong winds in the Gibraltar area, our pilots decided to land in Malaga as a precaution. The safety of our customers and crew is always our number one priority." One passenger took to Twitter afterwards to say she didn't think they were going to land safely, and that the airline should not have been flying through such conditions. Writing under the handle @Lisahuxstep1, she wrote: "The most harrowing flight today into Gibraltar from Heathrow! Terrified to say the least my husband and I looked at each other and thought this is it! BA knew high winds were present but still put us in danger!" Another passenger, Eli Hassett, told the BBC that he was saying his last prayers as the plane lurched over the sea. "I was thinking of my kids and wife. I'm going to end up in the straits of Gibraltar," he said before adding that the plane was "tilting like a roller coaster".
