Get ready to hit the gym, as the Dubai Fitness Challenge is returning for its third year of encouraging people in the emirate to get up and get active. The initiative, championed by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, will kick off on Friday, October 18, and end on Saturday, November 16. Expect 30 days of active events, sports, health and wellness programmes and more. The event encourages participants to do at least 30 minutes of active exercise every day for 30 days. "Taking this citywide movement to families, friends, colleagues and communities with the commitment and support from DFC partners, the Challenge also promises to make fitness easy and accessible to all, with a wide range of activities across two dedicated fitness villages, community-centric fitness hubs, free facilities and sport zones," organisers said. "In addition to fitness activities, DFC will place an elevated focus on health and wellness as part of its holistic offering this year." There is an app to help participants track their activity, and they can also take part in team challenges and set goals for themselves as well as find activities to take part in across the city. More information can be found at www.dubaifitnesschallenge.com
