Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, welcomed a team from the Children’s National Hospital in Washington, on Thursday.
Among the topics of discussion between Sheikh Khaled and hospital president Michelle Riley-Brown was the partnership between the emirate and the hospital, which has expanded more than 40 years, state news agency Wam reported.
Sheikh Khaled commended “the hospital's achievements and pioneering initiatives in paediatrics, as well as its treatment programmes that contribute to saving the lives of newborns and children worldwide”.
The Sheikh Zayed Institute for Paediatric Surgical Innovation was established at the US hospital in 2010 with a Dh550 million ($149.7 million) fund from the UAE.
The Children's National Research and Innovation Campus at the hospital was also inaugurated on site with a Dh100 million grant.
A donation of $35 million was made by the UAE to the hospital to coincide with the visit of President Sheikh Mohamed to the US last month.
