The UAE’s embassy in the UK has urged its citizens to avoid crowded areas while visiting UK cities. The embassy said it “urges UAE citizens in the United Kingdom to exercise the necessary precautions and avoid crowded areas in some cities”, in a statement published on social media on Friday. Though the embassy did not detail why such measures were needed, the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned in June of the “high number of thefts” affecting Emiratis overseas, including in the UK. The statement also advised UAE citizens to contact the embassy in case of emergency, and to monitor the social media accounts of the embassy and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. UAE nationals travelling to the UK were told to register to the Twajudi service, which provides consular services. The embassy’s emergency numbers are +97180024 and +97180044444, the statement said.
