Hazza Al Mansouri has made the Arab world and the UAE proud

I write to you in reference to Daniel Sanderson's article 'We will be back soon': Hazza Al Mansouri returns to Earth after landmark space mission (October 3).

I am happy that the UAE’s first astronaut Hazza Al Mansouri made it back home. He spoke to a plethora of students and conducted many experiments in the International Space Station. He has realised the dream of Sheikh Zayed.

The UAE is the third Arab nation to have sent a citizen to space. Maj Al Mansouri was selected among thousands of aspirants through a transparent procedure. There are many heavens for us to conquer.

The people of Iraq have suffered enough, they deserve a decent life

I write to you in reference to your article Iraqi government faces calls to resign as protests death toll hits 65 (October 5).

This piece does a very good job at explaining the ongoing crisis in Iraq. Security forces have violently repressed anti-government protests leading to 65 casualties in just a few days. The oil-rich nation once suffered under the brutal regime of former dictator Saddam Hussein. Now that Iraq is a democracy, it continues to suffer of a lack of good governance.

The Iraqi people have had more than their fair share of strife over the daces. Will their dreams of a better life ever come true?

The first kandura to be worn in space should be a museum display

I write to you in reference to the article Hazza Al Mansouri swaps space suit for the UAE national dress (October 1): How wonderful that Hazza Al Mansouri wore a kandura while he was at the ISS. It should be displayed at the Zayed National Museum.
