In June 2019, Shubham Mani Tripathi was riding his motorcycle home through the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh when he was shot dead. The 25-year-old journalist had received dozens of phone calls telling him to stop his investigation. But Mr Tripathi was not looking into the drug trade or investigating corrupt politicians.
