ABU DHABI // In the end, the three points is all that mattered to Paulo Bonamigo as Al Jazira were made to work overtime for their 2-1 victory over Ajman. A first-half brace from Ricardo Oliveira either side of a Waleed Ahmed penalty edged the hosts home as Jazira took their tally to six points from three Pro League games last night at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium. "Our objective was to win three points from this game and we achieved it," Bonamigo said. "Like always, we will evaluate this game and work on areas we need to improve. This is a continuous process and we will always try to maintain this winning formula. "We expected a tough game and it turned out to be a hard game. There is always room for improvement and like always we will evaluate out performance and work on them." Abdul Wahab Abdul Kader, the Ajman coach, conceded it was always a "massive task" when they play against teams like Jazira. "To give them a good fight and to lose 2-1 is not a bad result for us," he said. "We always play to win and our players tried very hard but in the end they were the better team on the night." Oliveira put the home side ahead from a header off a cross from Ali Mabkhout but the lead did not last long as Ajman levelled from the penalty spot through Ahmed. Salem Masoud brought down Boris Kabi with a reckless tackle in the area and the referee Yaqoub Al Hammadi had no hesitation in pointing at the penalty spot. Oliveira curled in a free kick five minutes before the break to regain the lead for Jazira, and the Abu Dhabi side were forced to weather a second-half onslaught before securing the three points.
