BEIJING // Britain's cycling coach Dan Hunt issued a stark warning after his side's dominant display in the velodrome in the Games, saying his team are "only just getting going".
Their latest triumph came when the men's team pursuit squad shattered the world record yesterday on their way to gold, a mark that they had set only the day before.
After dominating the world championships, British riders have been scintillating here.
They have failed to land a medal in just one of the seven events contested so far and won gold in five.
With the sprint world champion Chris Hoy, Bradley Wiggins and two-times world champion Victoria Pendleton, they are certainly not short of ammunition.
"I think it comes down to a few things: leadership, coaching, having the right athletes. We've got a young dynamic team and haven't even started yet," said Hunt.
"We're only just getting going. We have got three or four academies now and all of them are going to start producing medals by 2012, 2016."
The world champion Marianne Vos of Holland won the women's points race gold yesterday, dominating the final.
Pendleton led the way in the quarter-finals of the women's sprint competition. Wiggins and Hoy also made it through to the final four in the men's event .

Sugary teas and iced coffees
The tax authority is yet to release a list of the taxed products, but it appears likely that sugary iced teas and cold coffees will be hit.
For instance, the non-fizzy drink AriZona Iced Tea contains 65 grams of sugar – about 16 teaspoons – per 680ml can. The average can costs about Dh6, which would rise to Dh9.
Cold coffee brands are likely to be hit too. Drinks such as Starbucks Bottled Mocha Frappuccino contain 31g of sugar in 270ml, while Nescafe Mocha in a can contains 15.6g of sugar in a 240ml can.
