ST LOUIS // A poor start to the season by the St Louis Rams has already cost quarterback Marc Bulger his starting place. The Rams coach Scott Linehan confirmed yesterday that Trent Green will start in the quarterback position in Sunday's home game against the undefeated Buffalo Bills in place of the dropped Bulger. St Louis have not even been competitive in opening the season with three straight losses and scoring just 29 points - tied for second-fewest in the NFL.
Linehan did not offer any reasons for turning to Green. He said: "I foresee evaluating everything. What they are right now does depend on the health of our team in spots, but I would think that anything's possible at this point as far as our line-up." Bulger was 18 for 31 for 184 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Sunday's 37-13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. For the season, Bulger has yet to throw for 200 yards and has two touchdown passes and two interceptions for St Louis, who have been outscored, 116-29, in the three losses.
Linehan added: "We have to make plays even when the plays aren't easy to make. Marc's no different than anybody else. I think it's time for the playmakers to step up and make plays." * PA Sport
