Shikhar Dhawan scored his first IPL century as he guided Delhi Capitals to a five-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings in Sharjah. The left-hander was at the non-striker’s end, on 101 not out, when Axar Patel hit the second last ball of the game for six to win it for the side from India’s capital. In reaching three figures, Dhawan also became the highest run-scoring opener in the history of the IPL, passing Chris Gayle. Victory put Delhi back to the top of the table, while Chennai are in sixth – two points off the play-off places, having played a game more than Kolkata Knight Riders in fourth.
