Sri Lanka captain Dinesh Chandimal, coach Chandika Hathurusinghe and manager Asanka Gurusinha have each been suspended for six international matches for "conduct which is contrary to the spirit of the game". The men have each been handed eight suspension points, meaning they will miss the first four one-day internationals against South Africa, along with both Test matches. The bans come after the trio pleaded guilty to <a href="https://www.thenational.ae/sport/cricket/sri-lanka-cricket-captain-dinesh-chandimal-charged-by-icc-after-ball-tampering-row-1.741022">an International Cricket Council (ICC) charge following last month's Test against the West Indies in St Lucia</a> following a ball-tampering row. Monday's sanctions, for a breach of Level 3, Article 2.3.1 of the ICC code, were handed down by independent judicial commissioner, Michael Beloff QC. The minimum punishment for a Level 3 offence is suspension from two Tests, while eight suspension points equate to a ban from two Tests and four ODIs/T20Is, or eight ODIs/T20Is, whichever comes first. Six demerit points each have also been added to the disciplinary records of Chandimal, Hathurusinghe and Gurusinha. <strong>______________</strong> <strong>Read more:</strong> <strong><a href="https://www.thenational.ae/sport/cricket/lanka-premier-league-t20-cricket-tournament-indefinitely-postponed-1.750353">Lanka Premier League Twenty20 cricket tournament indefinitely postponed</a></strong> <strong>Graham Caygill: <a href="https://www.thenational.ae/sport/cricket/ball-tampering-row-icc-must-let-umpires-dish-out-yellow-and-red-cards-for-all-situations-in-cricket-matches-1.716543">ICC must let umpires hand out cards in cricket matches</a></strong> <strong>Chitrabhanu Kadalayil: <a href="https://www.thenational.ae/sport/comment/ball-tampering-row-win-at-all-costs-mentality-driven-by-too-much-player-power-mixed-with-nationalistic-pride-1.716497">Player power drives win-at-all-costs mentality</a></strong> <strong>Chitrabhanu Kadalayil: <a href="https://www.thenational.ae/sport/comment/steve-smith-and-david-warner-must-not-be-allowed-to-captain-australia-again-to-preserve-the-baggy-green-identity-1.715885">Cricket Australia must address cultural failings</a></strong> <strong>______________</strong>
