Emirates enter play-off match with Al Dhafra knowing anything less than three points will all but confirm they will playing Division One football this season. The Ras Al Khaimah club lost their opening play-off game 2-1 to Al Shaab, but their woes were compounded with captain Haider Ali's red card ruling him out of action for tonight's clash at Al Shabab's Rashid Stadium. Saif Mohammed, the Emirates team manager, remains upbeat though on his side's prospects. "We are confident we can achieve what we want, whether that is [tonight] or in the final game," he said. Khalifa Al Tunaiji, the Al Dhafra vice president, believes his side must forget Tuesday's 1-0 victory against Sharjah, telling Al Ittihad newspaper: "The Emirates match is the most important and the beginning of a real ascent for the club. We can almost guarantee our Pro League place regardless of the final match." sports@thenational.ae Follow us
