Euro 2012: Group C - Players to watch

As a new generation of players break into European football we look at four of the most dynamic talents who will likely emerge from the latest edition of the continental championship.

1 Jordi Alba (Spain)
Most of the Spain squad are established superstars - they are world champions, after all - but Alba is a fresh face to the team. The left-back is one of Valencia's most important players and the width he provides will be important, with most teams expected to defend in numbers against Spain.

2 Mario Balotelli (Italy)
The colourful striker has made as many headlines off the pitch as on it in his short career. But if he can focus on his football in Poland and Ukraine, and turn his potential into results, he could be Italy's match winner.

3 Aiden McGeady (Ireland)
McGeady is one of the few flair players in a solid, defensive-minded Ireland team. The winger, who plays for Spartak Moscow, has pace, likes to dribble and will be dangerous cutting in from the flank.

4 Nikica Jelavic (Croatia)
If the forward can continue his 2012 goalscoring form then he will be hard to stop at the Euros. Jelavic hit nine in 13 games for the English Premier League side Everton after a move from Glasgow Rangers, and he will have the likes of Luka Modric creating chances for him.
