WOLVES PLAYER RATINGS: Jose Sa 6 - A harsh afternoon for the Wolves goalkeeper who looked assured throughout the game before letting in a shot from Greenwood that he should have done much better with. EPA

Max Kilman 7 - Looked strong passing the ball forwards that helped transition the ball quickly. The Wolves back-three were rarely threatened by Manchester United’s forwards other than a couple of occasions where a long ball caught them out. Overall though, their performance was good enough to get a positive result. AFP

Romain Saiss 7 - Saiss will be wondering how he didn’t score after he saw De Gea save magnificently from his efforts inside the box. With the scores at 0-0 at the time that Saiss missed his golden effort, that was perhaps the sign that it was not going to be his side’s day. Getty

Nelson Semedo 7 - Semedo looked comfortable against Jadon Sancho who didn’t look confident against the Wolves right-back. The former Barcelona player is continuing to prove his class in Wolves colours. Getty

Marcal 6 - Not as effective going forward as usual but didn’t make many mistakes defensively. Marcal looks like he will continue to grow into his role as a left wing-back for Wolves. AFP

Ruben Neves 7 - Helped set the tone in the middle of the park and looked to progress the ball into the attack quickly. Unlucky with a potential foul call that wasn’t given before Manchester United scored. Reuters

Joao Moutinho 7 - An assured performance alongside Neves with Wolves looking the better side on the day. The Portuguese midfielder took care of the ball that helped control the game in both attack and defence. EPA

Francisco Trincao 7 - The Barcelona loanee had a bright game for Wolves as he displayed some of his attacking flair and link-up play. Unlucky not to score in the first half with an effort that beat De Gea but not the trailing Wan-Bissaka. Getty

Adama Traore 8 - The Spain international has looked threatening every game so far this season and that was no different against United. His final ball also showed some improvement, finding his teammates inside the box who couldn’t finish. Getty

Raul Jimenez 6 - It will take time for Jimenez to reach his best form and that could be helped by the recent addition of Hwang Hee-chan on loan from RB Leipzig. There were some good spells of link-up play, but the Mexican star’s finishing boots aren’t quite there yet. PA

MANCHESTER UNITED PLAYER RATINGS: David De Gea 7. Early save as Wolves countered from Traore. Shot blocked on the line three minutes later. Key double reaction save after 68 when Wolves should’ve scored. On a day when all eyes were on United’s attack, he kept a clean sheet against Wolves' six shots on target to United’s one. Reuters

Aaro Wan Bissaka 7. Super block on the line to stop Wolves going ahead after five minutes. Work cut out against Wolves’ strong left. Cut a 50th minute corner out well with a header. Getty

Harry Maguire 7. Better than last week against Southampton and comfortable in the air. Got back to cover Shaw when the full-back pushed forward as United chased a winner. Getty

Raphael Varane 7. Pace was needed against a rapid Wolves side who, despite a poor start to the season, took the game to United. Clean sheet on debut. Getty

Luke Shaw 6. Needed his pace to match Trincao, but not as effective as usual (or behind Pogba) in a very busy game with a highly motivated hone side. Getty

Fred 4. Made an error and then beaten by Trincao in another counter after five minutes. Time and again, he couldn’t get close to Traore. Poor for the second week in a row but often a one man midfield. Getty

Paul Pogba 7. Played central midfield rather than on the left where he’d done so well, but initially hit and miss with his passes, with a wonderful pass to Fernandes finding him offside. Another one touch pass to the Portuguese after 58 was his best, then another found Greenwood. Shot powerfully on target after 74. Game of two halves. AFP

Bruno Fernandes 6. Weak shot after six and then clattered by Coady. Put ball in the Wolves’ net. Booked again for his complaining to the referee, then flicked a fine ball to set up Greenwood. Getty

Jadon Sancho 5. Weak header gave Wolves yet another early chance and a clumsy 25th minute challenge another. Nothing first half and careless in the second for the big fee summer signing. AFP

Daniel James 5. Minimal impact but it was difficult with Marcal and Traore so strong on Wolves’ left. Likely to go on loan to a Premier League team before the end of the transfer window. It was Solskjaer’s 100th Premier League game and James has had plenty of chances. A loan move to improve could be wise for him. AFP
