BRIGHTON RATINGS: Robert Sanchez - 5: Caught in possession by Kane early on and was relieved when England striker failed to finish. Wrong-footed by deflection on Spurs’ first goal, made it easy for Kane by charging off his line ahead of second. AFP
Joel Veltman - 6: Booked in first-half injury time after fouling Kane on edge of Brighton box but happy to watch same player curl free-kick well over bar. Important block on Son shot early in second half. AFP
Lewis Dunk - 5: Almost gifted away possession playing ball across own box in first two minutes and made similar error late in first half. Typical of Brighton’s night where they were too often careless with the ball. Reuters
Shane Duffy - 5: Awful mistake late in first half that handed Kulusevski chance to score but Swede’s shot was saved. Helped keep Son quiet but Kane slipped through Brighton’s defensive net for second goal. Challenge on Kane late on could easily have been penalty. Getty
Marc Cucurella - 7: Spaniard's positional skills were spot in first half as headed away several dangerous balls into box. Dangerous cross himself into Spurs box just after break and pulled shot wide with 12 minutes left. Comfortably Brighton’s best player. Getty
Pascal Gross - 4: Game passed him by in opening 45 minutes. German had shot blocked early in second half after fine from Cucurella cross, but had home crowd groaning with another weak effort on goal. AFP
Yves Bissouma - 5: Regularly linked with big-money move away from Brighton but midfielder will not have impressed anyone here as he failed to get grip on game in disappointing performance. Hooked just after hour mark. AP
Alexis Mac Allister - 6: A couple of chances in first half – one header that he failed to connect with and one shot blocked – but that was about it. Getty
Solly March - 4: Nice ball into box to pick out Mac Allister but teammate couldn’t direct the header at goal in opening half. Little else of note from English midfielder. Getty
Leandro Trossard - 5: Lively start with his running on and off ball causing Spurs a few problems but took too long to get shot away before half-time and Spurs were able to block - which was trademark of Brighton’s night in front of goal. AP
Neal Maupay - 4: Booked early on after catching Dier in head with flying arm which was biggest impact Frenchman made on game as Brighton rarely threatened attacking wise. Blazed shot on turn high and wide five minutes before break. Reuters
SUBS: Danny Welbeck – (On for Bissmouma 62’) 5: Striker brought on as Seagulls attempted to recover two-goal deficit but couldn’t inspire a comeback on poor night for home team. Reuters
Tariq Lamptey – (On for Gross 78’) N/A. Reuters
Jakub Moder – (On for Veltman 78’) N/A. Reuters
TOTTENHAM RATINGS: Hugo Lloris - 6: French goalkeeper could have settled in a deckhair for large parts of this game as Brighton failed to register single shot on target for the entire 90 minutes. Reuters
Cristian Romero - 7: Lucky first goal for Spurs when Kulusevski’s shot deflected off Argentine defender’s leg. Booked for scything down countryman Mac Allister after break. Getty
Eric Dier - 8: Left with nasty cut and bandage round head after being caught by Maupay elbow in eighth minute. Didn’t stop him winning important headers throughout, though. Good block on Mac Allister shot in first half. Getty
Ben Davies - 7: A staunch regular under Antonio Conte and solid as a rock on the south coast here, although not exactly troubled by a wafer-weak Brighton attack. Getty
Matt Doherty - 6: Has been praised by Conte for his improved form of late and the former Wolves wide man was neat and tidy, if unspectacular. Getty
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg - 7: Tried to pick out teammates with balls behind the Seagulls’ defence, some coming off, some not. Ambitious lob in last minute drifted over bar. Getty
Rodrigo Bentancur - 7: Gave away bizarre corner when he blasted ball over own bar from 30 metres out when challenging in centre of park. Good run and pass to put through Kane for second goal and not afraid of tracking back to help his defence when needed. AP
Sergio Reguilon - 8: One fabulous switch ball from left flank to Doherty on right in first half and an equally good block on Trossard strike just before break. Should have made it 3-0 from brilliant Kane pass but Sanchez stopped shot. Same combination resulted in Reguilon’s low strike being saved again in injury-time. Getty
Dejan Kulusevski - 5: Not on same wavelength as teammates at times, in and out of possession. Helped put Spurs in front when his strike dribbled into the net via massive deflection off Romero. Should have scored just before half-time but shot straight at keeper.
Son Heung-min - 5: Unusually quiet game from South Korean attacker who never threatened the Brighton goal and his reliable partnership with Kane never clicked into gear. Getty
Harry Kane - 8: Should have scored after robbing Sanchez in fifth minute but shot wide from tight angle. Calm left-footed finish to put Spurs 2-0 up and felt he should have got late penalty after being caught by Duffy. Sprayed two lovely passes through to set up Reguilon’s chances. AP
