Another weekend of Premier League matches has come and gone with significant developments at both ends of the table. Four matches took place on the traditional Saturday afternoon kick-off as Chelsea's stuttering form continued after letting slip a two-goal lead to <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/sport/football/2022/05/07/todd-boehly-watches-wolves-snatch-draw-against-chelsea-after-lukaku-brace/" target="_blank">draw at home against Wolves</a>, while Watford were relegated after losing 1-0 at Crystal Palace. Aston Villa pushed Burnley back towards the relegation zone with a 3-1 win at Turf Moor, and Brentford cruised past Southampton 3-0. In Saturday's later games, Brighton & Hove Albion produced their first home win of 2022 by <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/sport/football/2022/05/07/rangnick-apologises-to-manchester-united-fans-after-humiliating-4-0-loss-to-brighton/" target="_blank">thrashing Manchester United 4-0</a>, before Tottenham held Liverpool to <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/sport/football/2022/05/07/liverpool-stutter-in-race-for-the-premier-league-title/" target="_blank">a 1-1 draw at Anfield</a>. On Sunday, Arsenal took charge of their top four destiny by <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/sport/football/2022/05/08/arsenal-eye-top-four-finish-as-victory-sends-leeds-into-relegation-zone/" target="_blank">beating Leeds United 2-1</a> at the Emirates to send Jesse Marsch's team into the bottom three, while Everton secured their first away win since August with a <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/sport/football/2022/05/08/leicester-v-everton-ratings-daka-7-evans-5-pickford-8-richarlison-7/" target="_blank">2-1 victory at Leicester City</a> to move out of the drop zone. At the same time, West Ham bounced back from their Europa League semi-final disappointment with a comfortable 4-0 win at relegated Norwich City. In the final match of the weekend, defending champions Manchester City took control of the title race after <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/sport/football/2022/05/08/manchester-city-thrash-newcastle-to-boost-premier-league-title-hopes/" target="_blank">outclassing Newcastle United 5-0</a> to move three points clear.
