Al Wahda fired their manager Laurentiu Reghecampf on Sunday, two days after a defeat to Al Jazira 2-1 in the Arabian Gulf League.
Defeat in the Abu Dhabi derby means Wahda have won only one of their last seven matches to leave them fifth in the table nine points behind leaders Sharjah.
Reghecampf replaced Javier Aguirre, the Mexican who is now in charge of Egypt, in June 2017 and was handed a contract extension after leading Wahda to a runner-up finish behind Al Ain last season. The Romanian also led Wahda to two Arabian Gulf Super Cups, an Arabian Gulf Cup.
Wahda started the new season with promise, winning the first three games before losing to Baniyas. They bounced back against Emirates but suffered another loss to Al Dhafra.
Three successive draws followed - against Al Nasr, Shabab Al Ahli and Fujairah - before the loss to city rivals Jazira.
Club officials did not respond to requests for comment when contacted by The National.
Wahda travel to Ajman for their next league match on Thursday.
