Friday evening in Portugal sees two giants of European football go head-to-head into battle. Spanish side Barcelona will take on Bayern Munich at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon which will be decided over one match, rather than over the usual two legs due to this year's tournament being disrupted by the coronavirus. The winners will take on either Manchester City or Lyon in the last four. Between them, Barca and Bayern have each won the European Cup/Champions League five times, also finishing runners-up on another eight occasions (Bayern five, Barca three). Only Real Madrid (13), AC Milan (seven) and Liverpool (six) have won the tournament more, although neither club have lifted the trophy since Barca's 2015 triumph over Juventus. It is seven years since Bayern were last champions when they overcame German rivals Borussia Dortmund in the final. To reach the quarter-finals this time round, the Bavarians dismantled Premier League side Chelsea 7-1 on aggregate in the last 16, while Barcelona overcame Serie A side Napoli 4-1 over two legs. Ahead of Friday's game, we are taking a look back at the previous Champions League clashes between the two clubs.
