Atletico Madrid are sure to be one of the clubs in Spain hoping the league season will be completed. With 11 La Liga games remaining, Atletico sit in sixth place, one point behind Real Sociedad in fourth. Spanish football authorities have already confirmed that should the season be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, the <a href="https://www.thenational.ae/sport/football/atletico-madrid-could-miss-out-on-champions-league-as-rfef-says-current-top-four-will-qualify-if-la-liga-season-is-abandoned-1.1007113">current places would be final</a>. That would mean Atletico missing out on next season's Champions League for the first time in seven years - unless they win this year's competition, if and when it is completed. However, Spain's top two professional leagues are taking big steps towards a return after clubs were given permission to resume group training this week. Atletico have wasted little time getting back to business as manager Diego Simeone, complete with gloves and face mask, conducted a group training session at the club's training complex on Tuesday.
