Harry Maguire: 7. Stopped Rupp’s shot and Norwich’s best first half chance after 43 minutes. Made key blocks, nearly headed a winner then scored the winner after 123 minutes of football. Showed why he’s captain. EPA

Fred: 7. Steady, safe, made blocks. Dealt with Aarons and defended when needed. Super ball to set up Fernandes. EPA

Scott McTominay: 6. Gorgeous first half flick to Ighalo but as pedestrian as Norwich city centre and flat as the rest of his team playing in front of no fans. EPA

Juan Mata: 5. Limited influence in a first half attack which was slower than a tractor with flat tyres. Knocked off ball for Maclean’s chance, but assisted Ighalo’s goal despite having three opponents around him. Reuters

Bruno Fernandes: 6. United’s only creative player in the first half. Great pass to Igahlo, but no LASK style finish. Made stray passes, struck a weak free-kick and fluffed Fred’s ball – so he’s human after all. EPA

Jesse Lingard: 5. No league starts since New Year’s Day, but has featured more in cups. Bright start with his quick feet, but needed a better performance to convince many doubters. PA

Odion Ighalo: 6. Little service prior to goal, then swivelled to continue record of scoring in every United game he’s started – a complicated chance to finish. Writes ‘scores goals’ as his occupation on official documents. PA

Marcus Rashford (63') 6. Little impact until a shot in extra time and fine ball towards Martial. PA

Mason Greenwood (63') 7: Lively and a direct threat. Stretched Norwich and shot wide after 79. PA

NORWICH: Tim Krul – 7. Couldn’t do much with the Ighalo goal and produced a late double save to force extra time. Dutchman then pulled off a fine stop to deny Maguire in extra time and had to be alert to palm away Fernandes’ long range effort. Reuters

Max Aarons – 7. Could have got tighter to Mata for his cross that led to Ighalo’s goal. But on a difficult night that saw United launch most of their attacks down his flank, he handled the onslaught admirably. Reuters

Ben Godfrey – 8. Norwich’s defensive leader repelled United attacks all evening long. Anticipated well, strong in the tackle and won every header. Involved in the mix-up that led to Maguire’s winner as the pressure eventually told. A top performance nevertheless.

Timm Klose – 3. Got sent off in the final stages of regular time just as Norwich were enjoying their brightest spell. For the previous 88 minutes, the German played well. EPA

Jamal Lewis – 6. Poor attempted clearance set up Ighalo’s goal but was solid for the rest of the game under sustained United attacks. EPA

Kenny McLean – 5. Ran hard and defended well but offered little going forward. Getty Images

Alexander Tettey – 5. Like the rest of the Norwich midfield, had a difficult night when his team barely had the ball. Played his part in keeping Norwich hard to break down. EPA

Lukas Rupp – 5. Had Norwich’s best chance in the first half but his shot was quickly shut down by Harry Maguire. Beyond that, a minimal contribution. Reuters

Emi Buendia – 5. Flashed an effort wide but had no real influence on the game. PA

Todd Cantwell – 8. Norwich’s star player was once again his team’s bright spark. Looked dangerous on the break and created Norwich’s best chances before scoring a fine equaliser. No chance he’ll be in the Championship next season. PA

Teemu Pukki – 3. Starved of service but created little for himself and his team. Easily dealt with by the United defence. Looks a shadow of the player from the start of the season. Getty Images

Onel Hernandez (62’) – 6. Tried to push forward and cause problems but attacking forays were few and far between. Did his defensive duties well with Norwich under constant pressure after going down to 10 men.

Josip Drmic (71’) – 5. Came on for Pukki but was equally ineffectual. Norwich’s one-man disadvantage hardly helped matters. EPA
